There is no place like the rugged, jagged, pristine central coast of California. The road from San Simeon to Big Sur is as winding and treacherous as it is exciting and awe-inspiring. Scattered and tucked away along Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway), are the treasures of the Big Sur coastline. An adventure up to Plaskett Creek, a few miles north of the small town of Gorda, is a a great place to set up basecamp. Directly across from the stretching golden sands of Sand Dollar Cover, Plaskett Creek is a grassy campground set under the cover of mature Monterey Cypress and Coastal Oaks. Big Sur rests only 30 miles to the north, leaving each visitor free to wander and roam the many trails, fire roads, and rugged coves along the way.
